The Graduate & Professional School General Scholarship Application
The Spring 2024 Graduate & Professional School General Scholarship application deadline is December 1, 2023!
The Graduate & Professional School General Scholarship is intended for high-quality students in SHSU graduate programs. Applications for this competitive $1000 scholarship will be accepted for both new and current students. Students may submit new applications each semester while enrolled in graduate programs at SHSU.
- To apply, use the Scholarship 4 Kats Portal.
- First, complete the General Application for the university, then search under Opportunities for The Graduate & Professional School General Scholarship.
- Applications, including all required documents, must be submitted by the deadline to be considered.
- Deadlines:
- Fall – August 1
- Spring – December 1
- Summer – May 1
- Once the application deadline has occurred, the scholarship committee will review all complete applications. Please allow up to two weeks after the deadline for notification of award or denial. Emails will be sent to all applicants if their scholarship applications were complete and reviewed.

ROAD to PhD Graduate Scholar's Program
The ROAD to Ph.D. graduate scholars’ program provides doctoral students with the tools and training to acclimatize them to the academic rigor of doctoral education. The program providesacademic support, mentoring, networking, and professional development opportunities to scholars. Additionally, scholars work on a comprehensive individual development plan (IDP) during their tenure in the program.
ROAD scholars are also awarded a financial stipend for six semesters contingent upon the successful completion of program requirements.
Applications are accepted during fall and spring semesters.

Overview – The ASPIRE Program is a student success program for master's level graduate students of SHSU. The program offers comprehensive support for scholars’ personal growth, professional development, and academic success. ASPIRE supports and encourages its scholars to pursue and finish graduate school, improve educational experiences, and prepare them for careers.
