Career Development and Readiness Resources


  • The Career Success Center (CSC) can help students with the following career resources: Resume/Cover Letter/Reference List documents, Interview Prep through mock interviews, Internship and Career searches, LinkedIn Profile assistance, Preparing for a Career/Internship Fair, Networking with Employers, and much more.
  • Appointments can be made through campus connect or by calling our main office line at 936-294-1713.

The Career Success Center Learning Lounge!


  • Career Development learning competencies are available through Blackboard to ALL students!
  • Learn how to become “Career Ready” through the eight (8) learning competencies developed by colleges and employers through these online learning modules. Embedded LinkedIn Learning Modules are incorporated into each learning competency along with activities to complete.
  • Competencies included are Career & Self-Development, Communication, Critical Thinking, Leadership, Professionalism, Teamwork, and Technolgy.
  • To access the Learning Lounge, go to your Blackboard Page, Click on Organizations on the left hand side tab, and search SHSU Career Success Center Learning Lounge.

  • The CSC hosts several events through the semester and year for our students to engage with potential employers.
  • Find out when we are hosting our Career & Internship Fairs, On-Campus Tabling events with employers out in Parker Plaza or inside our academic buildings, On-Campus Interviews, and much more.

Community Work-Study Program (CWS)


  • The purpose of the CWS program is to actively engage SHSU students with community organizations. Through this program, partner organizations provide college students with the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge while developing valuable skills.
  • Students get paid for their work in the community based on their eligibility for work-study.
